That doesn't sound like a vanos problem. Sounds like a rod knock more than anything.

I would avoid that motor. For a couple reasons.

does it make that noise always? Does it come after the car gets warm? My vanos is bad and it doesnt knock, i dont think Vanos' knock. I 2nd rod knock.

Sounds kinda like an exaust leak. Doesnt sound like a rod to me.

If I r3v, the sound is the same but increases in frequency. As far as power and the way the car drives, its very smooth. Power is smooth as well as gas mileage (very good). I just dont know what that sound is.

Its an exhaust leak. Pull the manifolds and replace the gaskets.
