I've got an M52 with matching tranny out of a '96 328i in my car. I believe that tranny is the ZF320. I think I need to replace my CSB and maybe the flex disc too. I bought the car with the swap already done, so I'm not 100% sure what driveshaft is in the car. Do E30 CSBs fit E36 driveshafts? Is it likely that I have the E36 driveshaft? I'm going to try to track down some info from the shop that did the swap, but I'm not confident they'll know what is in the car.

E30 CSBs fit the E36 driveshaft. In fact, you'd have to modify the E36 CSB to fit the E30 transmission tunnel, if it is even possible.

So Fred, is your CSB on "normal" or backwards? Should it be oriented so the tabs are facing the tunnel as they were meant to from the factory, or should it be oriented so it is backwards but on the e36 shaft as the e36 CSB is from the factory. RichComment

I don't remember. I remember positioning the CSB to center the driveshaft would be centered properly to avoid weird angles on the center u-joint. This resulted in having to use a strange combination of dust caps, if I recall correctly.
