    obd2 speed signal

I'm getting a no vehicle speed signal code. According to my wiring harness, my blue/yellow pin 14 body side vehicle speed signal (90 325is) is being connected to the white/green pin 19 on the engine harness side, supposedly "speed out".

Is that correct? I just spent $25 on a crappy haynes manual hoping I could confirm that white/green-speed out wire is the correct one after spending a bunch of time searching on here fruitlessly, and it didn't answer shit.

If it is right, then I have other problems on my hands...

on an OBD-II car, x20 WT/GN pin 19 is S/A reset/service interval indicator reset, not vehicle speed output.

Vehicle speed output is x20 BR/RD pin 9.

      uh oh.

service interval reset must be different from code reset then. My code reset seems to work fine.

Looking at the haynes I bought, the vss was br/rd inside the e36 cluster, but that didnt necessarily mean it was in the harness too (which it doesnt show).

Thanks fred, will try that now. Any idea what the wt/gn pin 19 s/a reset/service interval indicator reset should go to on the e30 body plug? If it doesn't reset the oil service ligts on the cluster i'll just leave it off.

I am not sure about that? If you can reset the SI lights, I'd say, tape that sucker off.

Fred you da man, y0! at least for now **knock on wood**

drove about 10 miles, VSS issue did not come back up.

down to maf, evap running losses, and a vacuum leak. baby steps...

evap running losses could be a couple of things. as matt mentioned, that is apparently the plug that goes to the obd2 fuel pressure regulator. also, i think you get that message when you don't have a fuel pressure sensor hooked up. as we were talking on the phone today about the x6031 my fuel pressure sensor wires run through that plug. talking to luis a few months ago, he said that he didn't have a fuel pressure sensor hooked up on his car. i believe he said that he synthesized it somehow. by the way, how do you have your fuel pump relay wired up?

oh, by the way, your #11 wht/blu on the e30 body goes to x20 pin #19 grn/wht. that will make your si reset work.

Find it at the ECU connector and trace the wire.
