    Non Vanos Cams?

Quick question. Has anyone here ACTUALLY done the NV intake cam in the exhaust side?

I attempted to hook up a spare intake cam on my motor but i figured out that the intake cam is a smidge longer than the exhaust cam. (the mounting area is thicker) The exhaust cam is shorter to account for the primary timing gear.

That said, is it possible to machine cams to make it thinner there?

I talked to a few people and no one had an answer.

    Thanks!

I think you need to use the cam tray also...

Yeah I have that too if I need it. The area where the gears bolt to the cams is physically thicker on the intake cam than the exhaust cam. The exhaust cam has to accomodate the primary timing gear and the secondary gear. The intake only has the secondary. Using the intake cam on the exhaust side gave me a crooked timing chain line which isn't somethig I want to play with.

I did it w/o any modification, no tray swap, direct swap.

        Worked great.

So you're running 2 intake cams?

You didnt notice the non-straight timing chains?

            Im not comfortable with that...

And i dont see how the cam trays would affect the location of the timing gears?

If im going about it wrong enlighten me. thats why i asked...

Why not just use the s50 exhaust cam 240/9.7. Its the same specs as the N/V intake cam. The timing chain should sit straight then if its made for the dual gears.

                          Yes.
All I did was remove the exhaust cam, and added the intake in.
Never noticed any mis-alignment though. Make sure you seat the cam in correctly.
