Ok, I'm over my little childish remarks on the 'tech....
Back-purging will yield a stronger, cleaner and easier weld, since the "dirty" air that is essentially trapped inside the tubes is replaced with shielding gas.
E30 M50 turbo manifold group buy interest..?

NewmanI'm not trying to get way OT, but here:
a second tank with a regulator set at a very low flow rate.
But I'm not trying to be a dick. I just saw a picture of the manifold in the process of being welded, didn't see a backpurging setup, so I simply asked... Maybe the OP doesn't know the benefits of backpurging.
I'm just trying to help.
I have followed your build on E30tech and it's impressive to say the least. So
What is the longevity difference between a manifold that is backpurged and one that is not? Or are we just splitting hairs here?
From what I have read all tubular manifolds will eventually crack no matter what material or process is used.Leave a comment:

I'm not trying to get way OT, but here:If you guys think you can do a better job,(all you have done so far is call people idiots) Who is stopping you from doing so?So, don't tell other people how to do it if you can do better, make some and sell them!i am sure nobody will ever buy a manifold from Otis or 666 ever again if you are so good.So as it goes in the old saying that engineering is great but somebody has to make it happen.DON'T TELL ME,SHOW ME!

All backpurged. Just a second tank with a regulator set at a very low flow rate.

I don't hate schedule manifolds... they're good for what they are. I have one on my GTR motor. It's just so easy, and practically free, to backpurge the manifold while welding, and it can greatly increase the longevity...Leave a comment:

Dont worry Newman.
Most are idiots here and see thick steam pipe as the shit. There will be a place for good engineering, just rarely in the E30 market.Leave a comment:

Sorry, I was just trying to add some useful engineering insight. I will take my witchcraft elsewhere. Carry on.Leave a comment:

I'm sorry, I'll take my creative criticism elsewhere.
Christ, I'm just trying to help. A back-purging setup is really easy to make and should be considered in the future.Leave a comment:

I'm still curious if you're backpurging these... your welds will ultimately fail if you're not...Leave a comment:

Manifolds are starting to ship, sorry for the delay, I will pm everyone their tracking #'s as they ship!!!!!!!!
