Im having Good & Tight make me another manifold, the one I have is a t3 flange and the turbo I finally decided to go with is a T4. The t3 manifold has barely been out of the box and has never been mounted to a car. So I pretty much want the $700.00 shipped that Otis was charging to cover my new T4 flanged manifold from him.

What happens when you don't backpurge is oxides form on the backside of the weld... have you ever tried welding without gas? It looks like crap. On the backside of the weld, a similar phenomena is happening, but on a more microscopic level (it's not AS noticeable, because you aren't directly in the arc), but you're still forming oxides on a microscopic level, which can lead to failures. The burns stainless guys say that backpurging can make the weld 30% stronger, though I'm unsure how they arrived at that figure.

I WOULD like to add, though, that it's really awesome to see people DIY stuff like this, especially for others... I love DIY. I wish you the best of luck on your endeavor. :)
