    no spark no fuel using auto harness help!

    89 325is------>96 m52b28 / 93 e34 obd1 wiring harness w/o ews

    Well I'm getting close to finishing up my swap and I'm not getting any fuel or spark. Fuel pump works I by passed checked it. I haven't checked the main relay to see if its getting juice but I assume it is because I hear it click on and make a buzzing noise when the key is in the "run" position. I was reading one of the guides and it says if you use an auto harness you have to connect pin 26 going to the TCM to one of the red/ white wires on the main relay. It didn't say why you had to do this and I was wondering if this would solve my problem. It makes sense if it powers up the main relay then the fuel pump relay would switch on.
    Thanks ahead for any help I'm working on my car at my moms and the only internet I have is my blackberry. So if I can get the answers just by checking this post it would be much appreciated.

    i had a simular issue, turned out to be i had the cps and ICV plugs mixed up...

      I will double check my connections tomorrow for the sensors. Hopefully I have something backwards and everything works fine after that. I will continue to monitor this thread closely if anyone has any ideas about having to hook the tcm brown/black wire to the red/white wire on the main relay.

        Last week I went to fire up my m50 swap (1995 325is) and got no fuel to the injectors. Problem was the 95 fuel rail did not have the fpr on the end of it ,It was located down by the gas tank.Just one thing you can look and make sure you have. I went with the Treehouse ( plug and play) so cant help you with the wire set up.

          I have a M50 e34 auto with Gregs adapter. Mine just fired up first time go. As e30 blue said the OBD2 cars had the FPR under the driver but if you have a m50 intake and fuel rail then you have a FPR in it. I didn't have to do anything different to my wiring and Greg didn't know it was a auto

            Yeah I am running the m50 OBD1 stuff. I am double checking all my sensors and making sure I had them hooked up right. My main relay isn't getting the ground signal from the ecu when I turn the key on and neither is my fuel pump relay. If worse comes to worse I will buy a e36 wiring harness. Wish I had someone local to test my ecu in their car to see if it works.

              make sure you main harness pwr and ground are correctly installed, also that all your harness connections are installed corrected to the corresponding sensors, as the dme will not ground the fuel pump or o2 relay with out first seeing a rotation signal from the cps.

                    double, tripled, quadruple checked my connections and everything looked great. Called around on craigslist for people that were selling 92ish-95ish bmws and found a chick that was willing to let me test my ecu in her car. We meet up and she had a early 92 bmw w/o vanos so that was a no go. Looked around on craigslist some more and found a local mechanic that had a 93 525i w/ vanos that was a little hesitate at first but was willing to let me test it in his car. We plugged it in and nothing. Ecu is toast. So as of this moment, the swap is on hold till I get a new ecu.

                      have you been able to fig out why it was toast? i am goin to put my m50 in tomorrow morning and i had to splic up an auto harness as well, im just hoping i didnt F something up and fry my ecu when i turn the key as well

                        I think I fried it before I turned the key on. I think I had one of the harness ground wires hooked up to power. Its all a learning experience hopefully that's the only one I fry.
