    Fuel tank breather valve

Ok, so I have A question about the breather valve on my car...

Ever since I've owned my E30, I've always had problems with it idling funny when it was warmed up/semi warmed up. I would describe best as a momentary stutter in the engine while I'm idling. Its never had a problem with hesitating or anything like that though, so I just left it alone, until now....

I was checking in the engine bay, trying to locate the ICV, and I happened to unplug the fuel tank breather valve, and suddenly, idling smooth as silk! Plugged it back in, and it went back to stuttering...

My question to you guys, does that indicate the valve is bad, or maybe there's some way to clean it?

Also, why would unplugging it make the idle smoother?

Well by unplugging the vacuum line it would cause your car to run more lean at idle/driving (if I'm think this correctly). Could be the valve is bad but it really shouldn't matter as plugging the hole for the fuel tank breather within the tbody itself shouldn't really have no affect on performance.

Well, I didn't unplug the vacuum line, just the sensor connector going to it.

Disregard this post, I'm a dummy.

        And my troubleshooting skills suck.

I'm not sure, its still happening, but it wasn't that. I checked it again, and it made no difference. I just got excited the first time it happened.

I'm open to suggegtions for what it might be though :P

So after giving it some thought, I may try cleaning the ICV and seeing if that will help.

              Updates to come later.
