Well, I'm not out of the woods yet

I replaced the clip that holds the icv to the manifold and my car was running great for a day.

I went for a spin this morning to make sure the car was ready for a little meet today and it didn't want to cooperate. Its running like shit again - a lot like it was with the vacuum leak.

I'm wondering if my old e30 cat is f'ed up. After I parked the car this morning after a 5 minute drive, some smoke was coming from underneath (near the cat) and I could see a lot of heat waves coming from the cat.

I'm getting occasional cel's about the o2 sensor, but its brand new (its plugged into one of my obd2 manifold bungs for now).

I also have a strange issue where about 1 out 6 attempts to start the car, the starter doesn't turn at all. Not related to being hot or cold - completely intermittent. Come back later and it starts fine.

I guess my excitement was a little premature.

I've been driving mine for the last 2,000 miles but it's still not running perfect. Getting closer and closer though.

My starter randomly makes a wierd noise and doesnt crank, very next try immediately starts right up. Was once out of every 20 or so starts, now it's getting more and more frequent. Going to check to make sure it's tight and all connections are tight again. Unfortunately, the age of mine is unknown, as I let a buddy take one I had a long time ago to get his daily running... he gave me this one as a replacement.

    Anyway, keep your chin up.
