    wiring up the e30m50

this saturday i will be getting the harness for my m50 run, but was curious as to what ppl think works out better, splicing the wires or getting an adapter. my car is 85 and iv read it has to be 87 or earlier so i dont know if it will work
but let me know your opinions and stuff thanks

i made my own adapter first, got a body side X20, and cut the M20 engine side off, and spliced together... but that looked messy, and i was striving for a clean bay. so i cut the x20 out all together and spliced the c101 square plug right into the M50 harness. Now it just clips into its stock spot beside the fuse box with its little cover over it and all... no extra mess.

Went with treehouse adapter and Jon made it to work perfect. I also have a 85 with the square plug. It seems that some think that $400 for the Treehouse adapter is a waste, and yes $400 is alot of money. For me it was nice to just plug and play after a full rebuild.

The early cars with round or rectangular plug don't have a couple wires that are part of the engine harness, so they have to be run individually. One is for the check engine light, one is for tach, and one is for mpg. With late model cars, those wires are part of the harness so the adapter is cleaner. For $400 it better come with some girls to install it for you and wash your car.

Dude if you spend a couple hours (at the very most) looking at the etm from wedophones

you can write yourself up a chart and make yourself an adaptor or wire the c101 directly onto the m50 harness. Save $400 and spend it elswhere
