    Trans options

I have an M52 swapped e30 with a G260 with a gone 3rd gear. I have a ZF transmission and a e30 M3 drive shaft that I was given with the car, but I'd assume the rear end (3.73) is to high for that trans.

I was wondering... If putting another 260 in would be worth it and sell the ZF?
How strong it would be and how long it would last?

Whats the goods and bad's of both?

    Thanks.

you could be better off getting a 3.25 or 2.93 rear end (2.93 would match your current gearing). They are easier and cheaper to source than a g260...arguably so. The ZF shifts nicer IMO. Seems like you are geared up for both scenarios.

the zf will sell fast, you can buy a getrag with it and stick with your plan B.
    No more e30s for me.

The ZF is a closer ratio tranny (1st-4th are all closer to 5th which is a tiny bit higher with a 2.93 than a G260 5th with a 3.73), but the G260 will hold the power just fine.

For a ZF320 you'll either want a 2.93 (stock) or a 3.25, which is similar to the 4.10 with a G260. Some have gone even further with a 3.46 for even shorter gearing.

Yeah, I wasn't looking for super short gearing just in between. At the moment it looks like selling it and getting another G260 would be more cost effective if they both shift smooth and hold the power the same...
