    Non-VANOS chips

So, I'm looking for a tune for a 403 DME. I've done some searching but it looks like most chip/software reviews are for VANOS M50s. I've got an M50NV. Anyone have any first-hand experience with an NV chip?

The only review that I could find compared a Dinan chip to a Jim C chip, the conclusion was that the Jim C was better all around but the Dinan was better with high revs. There has got to be more out there than that at this point, what about Mark D and TRM tunes? The M50 is stock, not that it really matters but it'll have a cold air intake and OBD2 manifolds into the M20 dual exhaust. God I hate saying "cold air intake."

mark D seems to make the best chip for the N/V.

you can get a 403 or 405 chip a 402 wont work for you.

my buddy had a turner chip in his non-vanos, but that was years ago closer to when non-vanos motors were out. they might still sell one but i dont have much of a review on it. good luck!

        TRM doesn't have any non-vanos tunes. :)

I would definitely suggest talking to Mark D. His stuff is always excellent.

Good deal, I'll probably go with that. Nice 20% off sale coming around soon...

I believe the Turner chip = JC chip.

I currently have a Dinan chip in my M50NV that the PO put in. Just curious if anyone thinks it'd be worth it to get a Mark D chip to replace it the Dinan chip.

I have an old school active autowerke 402 chip, and it runs pretty well.

I have a mark d chip. It is a great chip except for the fact I have some detonation in the higher rpm's on 93 octane. When I go to the track and run 99 or higher it doesn't have any problem. There is definately a power increase over stock, not like chipping an eta engine, but more power none the less.

I was hoping you'd chime in, I take it you ran the 13.9 on high octane?

Yes, 2 gallons of 99 octane. It was mixed with about 2 or 3 gallons of 91.

Hi Justin, you're talking US octane right?
I'm thinking about getting the 403 MarkD chip and I can buy 91, 94, 96 (US) octane here, but some stations only have the 91. Do you strictly run on higher octane or would the 91 be fine for daily driving if 94/96 isn't available?

I ran mine with 91 octane (US) for daily driving. It is only during higher rpm's that I noticed anything and it wasn't all the time. You should be fine.

I did another swap with the same (purchased another) Mark D chip, still loved it. No detonation with premium 91+ fuel, pulls strong top end.
