Pull DOCH engine with 6speed as one?

Anyone ever pull an m50 style engine with 6 speed trans out the top as one unit? I am really getting sick of trying to bolt them up under the car. I also just got a load leveler finally. The car is only on jackstands So i am concerned with having enough room to make the turn out of the trans tunnel.

Any tips or tricks? can it be done?

    Thanks

Yup, you can do it. The front lip on the rad support is the problem. Someone is going to have to push down hard on the tranny as it comes out of the tunnel and needs to go vertical.

I put mine in that way no problem with the motor fully loaded.

This is what I did for engine removal, engine installation.
1, remove the hood, but not with the front hinges.
2, undo the engine and trans mounts.
3, lower the trans end to access the slave cyl, shifter, reverse light harness.
4, Bias the leveler so that the trans end hangs lower.
5, Pull the engine. the oil pan won't want to clear the core support, so jack the ass of the car up. this tends to lower the front of the car and provide clearance. Have a 2"x4" sitting on the core support to catch the oil pan .
6, the trans end of the drivetrain can be lifted by one person if it looks like it won't clear the core support.

Also, pull the crank pulley and oil pan, that will help a bit as well. If you are alone, I have seen 100lbs. weight on a ratchet strap on the back of the trans to get the push described above. But that is only if you are solo.

Not a standard but I have did an automatic on a e36 twice. Useing a creeper dolly for tail end of trans so it will not drag ground to start, I had to raise the car while getting the engine to the uprite postion then Lower the car and push it away. cause engine is to high on lift, to manover safely to unstable. Reverse process for putting in. GL
