M3 diff ok for a swapped drivetrain?

I'm not 100% sure what tranny and diff is in the car right now (m50b25), but I've been offered an M3 S3.91 type 168 and not sure if I can use it. Seller says it has 8 clutch plates instead of 4, thus being 75% lock.
Whats it like driving with 75% lock?

What tranny are you using, 3:91 will not be good w/ a ZF. M3 ratio is 4:10 so I dont know what this diff is out of.

      E30 M3 euro
      I'll check my tranny.

Edit: PO says the tranny is from an IS, not sure what type though.
I tried taking pics but the cars too low :)

A 168 diff isn't going to hold 6 cylinder torque, and it isn't from any M3 ever. Those came in, and belong in 4 cylinder BMW's

        All 6 cylinder e30's and the e30 M3 had a 188 diff. V8 BMW's (and euro e36 M3) have 210 diffs.

Regardless it sure doesn't have 4, or 8 clutches in it. The 168/188/210 diffs all have 2 clutches per diff. Clutch count also does not directly affect static lock up.

In short, the seller likely doesn't know his elbow from his asshole and his wares should be avoided.

          Thanks for the specs, sir.

So I think I curently have a 3,73 with the IS tranny (type?) and did a test today, cca 100mph = 4000rpm.
So should I be looking at something like a 4,10 from an E36 if I want a torquier 2nd and 3rd, compromising the top speed a bit?

no i dont believe e36 diffs will fit e30s. you want a medium case diff from another e30, e28, and one or two other models. my s3.46 is actually from an e24. if you get a diff from a different body style you will probably have to swap your back cover and shaft flanges from your original diff. you can usually see in forsale pics if the diff looks the same as the original

Or E34? I heard the M50 will rip the "small body" E30 diffs.
I'm a little bit confused about what lsd options there are for an M50 swap.
Seems the tranny is probably G240 + E36 325i driveshaft. I know it sounds really noobish, but I really have no way of getting under the car right now to check the exact setup. DOHC wiki doesn't mention much about diffs.
