Making harness now, have a few questions

I am in the process of making my harness now. I have an 88 325e, so to my understanding I am supposed to wire it like an "i."

I dont have to wire anything for my ABS right. I am 99% sure I dont have to being an 88 model.

Where is the wire which give the speed signal, that conencts to pin 20 on the e36? It says under glove box on the AKG instuctions, but I cant find it.
Is it the C104, I disconnected this harness under the glove box connected to the e30 engine harness.

    Thank you.

Okay so I finished it today for the most part. I still have a few questions so I edited my original post. Mainly about the speed, and that harness.

From looking in the connector views, that appears to be the C136 connector, the connector views didn't show a C104 in your car but I found it mentioned elsewhere in the ETM (with different functions, so it may be a different connector altogether that you don't want to deal with). The C104 is a 3-pin connector in a similar place (1 row of 3 pins), in my '87 the black wire in the C104 was the tach signal, I think there was a green that was the road speed signal, and a yellow/purple that was the fuel consumption signal. Not completely sure on the last two though as I haven't hooked them up yet. :p

Edit: I think the road speed signal goes through pin 9 of the C101: http://www.wedophones.com/Manuals/BM...g%20Manual.pdf check out page 6210-2. It's pretty likely that all of the pertinent signals in the '88 go through the C101, as I think they do for '89+ cars.

for the vehicle speed you should run a wire off the back of your gauge cluster, its the green plug facing downwards, any of the slots will do. the yellow on c104 is for the econo gauge and the black is for the tach, i was told not to use the green/red wire on c104 as its for something else... good luck

speed signal is pin 14 (green/wight IIRC) tack is pin 9(black) for the e30 side.
pin 14 is speed signal pin 20 is tack on the e34/36 side

          only 83-87early had a c104 (that had a tack/consump signals through them)
looking for a e30m50 swap harness adapter pm me $150 shipped

Thanks guys, that is the way I wired it via the AKG site. I was just confused because my car being a super eta.

Pin #7 on the e30 is for ignition and the harness has two wires coming out of it. I read while searchign to tap them togetherm is that right?

Thank you for the link Wheelhop, ill check that in the morning.

What has been your best resource for putting together the harness? I'm looking at wiring up the M50 I just bought last weekend, but I can't say I have any sort of strength in understanding the basics of an engine harness.

For me it was that wedophones site with the ETMs and AKG's site. Go through the relevant ETMs, put a list together of the C101 pins on the E30 side and the X20 pins you think they should go to, cross reference with AKG's adaptor guide. Depending on your E30/M50 combination you may also be able to find adaptor info that others have posted up here.

                      hmm

I as well am just finishing up my harness and came across a couple weird things. As stated above there are two 'green' leads coming from pin 7 (a small wire and a larger wire). Above said to splice them together? BUT I found that on my x20 e36 connector it had the same thing.. a large green and a small green coming from the ignition pin... Sooo suspicion to believe I should not splice, but rather connect the big with big / small with small ??? I don't want to fry my DME so I wont start till I get some opinions..

Also I am confused about the c103 bit. I have a 89 '325is' e30. Do I need to deal with this connector under the glove box? If so, what do I need to do?

Also what do I have to do to make sure my ABS still works?

                      Thanks guys!

very helpful - I promise I've been searching, just haven't come across anything that has a definitive starting point - up till now, thanks!

Thanks! So what about getting ABS to work? Also what about the extra green wire coming from pin 7?

AKGs pin out is terrible... you need to download the ETM for your car and your engine and make your own and compare it with your actual connector.

if your car is an 88 you dont have a c104 which is only 3 pins
