    Engine problem

I'll try to be as brief and too the point as possible.

When driving sometimes my car wants to die under a load. I can stomp on the gas and it just lags out. I disengage the tranny and coast for a few hundred yards (all the while idling fine) only to put the car back in 3rd, 4th whatever and continues on our merry way. This doesn't happen all the time, but enough to make me want to fix it. Other times I'll bring the car up through the power range in all gears and nothing happens. This problem is sporadic at best. I don't have a peak or any other diagnostic equipment.

Also, this car has been on the road for a little over a year now and this problem started a few weeks ago. New fuel pump (external, 1000mi ago). In tank unsure

    Thanks,

hmmm interesting questions. It's an M52 stock everything. Running the 506 DME. As far as the check engine light. It blinks until I press the check panel so I'm not certain if it's hooked up. Happen to know which pin it is on the C101?? I'll look at that amazing write up someone created a minute ago.

sounds like a MAF sensor problem check the wiring for the sensor on the intake side and make sure that you have no leaks or loose clamps there either.

Would a simple peak tool throw a code?

            So OBD2?

The CEL should be hooked up. That check light is just the check panel. I would hook up the CEL first.

It sounds like its pulling timing.

Any whining sounds from the rear? Under load stalling might about failing fuel pump.

I'll double check the MAF. I recently installed a new temp sensor and perhaps I've "adjusted" something. Also I've converted to OBD-1
On a side note: The blue top temp sensor on the harness is for the single pin e30 temp sensor, correct?

No the blue sensor is for the DME, the gauge sensor is brown

okay, I've verified that my harness has two temp plugs (obviously). With that I have a blue and a brown temp sensor in my head. How does one determine which plug is for the DME and which is for the gauge? I'm sure I need to pull the boot and look @ the wire's

last time I checked I think it is pins 11&12 for the cluster temp sensor. Use a DMM and find the wire in the x20 connector and the harness. Most harnesses I see have a blue piece of tape on the wire for the DME.

You need a check engine light. The check engine will flash or stay on and inform you of whats going on.

Shit, connect your Gray wire in your x20 to ground and look for resistance after doing the pedal trick. You will see it make ground continuity. Thats another way of looking @ the CEL.
