    Brake Discussion - Pedal Feel

As with the clutch it seems a big thread with lots of information does not exist. Or none that I can find. Link me if I am wrong. So I have an iX booster and currently mounted is an E32 master. My question is what type of pedal feel/action am I in for? Have heard recommendations to go to an E36 M3 master with the iX booster.

I will be on stock brakes until the swap is up and running and going smoothly for a month or two. Then going with the UUC BBK for the front.

What are you running? How is the pedal feel? Install look? Clean?

    ix booster, 735 MC.

I love the feel, its nice a stiff, and responsive, im not sure how to give a controlled rating though? its stiffer then my moms 04 jetta..lol

install is clean for the most part, the need for a remote resivoir is a pain if you want a shaved look. I was just trying to achieve OEM so it wasnt a big deal for me.

    stock rotors/pads

i run the same setup w/ massive street kit in front and some slotted rottors and hawks in the rear. great setup and feels very solid, it will bite hard if you give it a good steppin on.

Seems like what I have in my hand is a good choice...

I went with the e32 booster(same as IX booster) and e32 master. Im very happy with the outcome as far as my brake pedal feel and bite goes. The bias has changed a little bit for the better depending on your driving style. If you trail brake expect the car to get a bit loose as the bias has moved a little more to the rear, also the car stays relatively flat while braking and dose not dive as much.

If i had to do it over again, i would change one thing. I would get a slightly different booster, maybe one from the v8 5 or 7 series, and mount it directly to the firewall as to not have the booster space out so far from the firewall. But i think that would require new brake lines as well.

Here is a picture of my setup, im currently waiting for the 2002 reservoir to clean things up a bit.

Trying to prepare for the m50 swap, the more stuff I can do ahead of time the less i have to worry about later.

Holy shit! Someone is using their fucking brain.

I will be doing the same preparations.

The only thing that matters to pedal feel is the diameter of the master cylinder.

25 is the way to go.

                      - Modded E21 booster
                      - E32 25mm master cylinder
                      - E36 M3 Front Brakes w/ Jurid Pads
                      - E36 318ti Rear Brakes w/ Jurid Pads
                      - No brake check valve
                      - disabled ABS

Initial pedal feel is way too hard, but it may be the lack of vacuum assist w/out having the check valve and larger MC. I am changing out to Hawk HP+ pads and new rotors next week and will give my impressions when that's done. May also add a check valve to make sure there is enough vacuum getting to the booster.

Thanks Matt. E32 is 25mm as I remember so should be golden.

What did you have to do to run it without a spacer? Did you have to make new lines?, or do anything to the shaft that connects to the pedal?
