I don't have the ETM in front of me right now, but I'm pretty sure all it tells us is that a single wire goes to the OBC and Econo guage, from the motronic...but because that wire comes from a solid state component, like an IC or something ("computer chip" basically), the diagrams do not explain what sort of signal is being passed down that single wire. That's where the scope comes in. It'll show, over time, what sort of current is passing down that wire. Odds are it's some measure of fuel injector pulse, but AFAIK no one knows this for sure.

This is still on my list of 'things to do'.

I do have a Fluke Scopemeter, so could fairly easily see what sort of signal is coming out of my S50 ECU.

Hey guys, would this work if is indeed a frequency problem?

          For the E30 platform...let's see...*checks 16 button OBC chart*

...errgg...let's check the ETM and ETK...

Okay. Signal comes from DME, Pin 32 .5mm WT/BK for the fuel rate, goes through the C101, and comes into the cluster via Pin 11, .5mm YL/WT through the blue plug (C1). For the RPM signal it comes from the DME through Pin 6, .5mm BK wire, through the C101, into the cluster via C1 blue plug as Pin 7 .5mm BK wire.

I don't know which wire is supposed to be the fuel rate input for the e34/32 obc. Probably Pin 24, Black/Violet wire. Dunno.

But there seems to be such dramatic interest in a e34/32 OBC swap so I guess I'll have to wait maybe 10 years for something to come up in the form of a supporting bracket and something else to hold up the chopped up HVAC panel. Thanks for all the support -.-

                That's all for Drew.

Actually the E34/32 OBC has DESTination and ARRival. And it has unlockable functions like a digital speedo in km/hour, fuel rate instantious, fuel tank capacity undampened and dampened, and among some other things.
