First of all, please forgive me, for I am n00b - there's just so much information to take in... but I've got all the basics... drill the holes out for the getrag 250 driveshaft to mate up to the 240's tailshaft (correct me if I'm wrong, please! :) )... e34 m5 engine mounts... ecu from m50nv...
But there's still so much to learn!
I've got a 318is equipped with the M42 engine, 4.10LSD rear and getrag 240 transmission... I picked up a 92 M50NV that is mostly complete, but I'd like to update any sensors it uses, as well as any other items that are known to go bad... that leads me to my first question...
waterpumps - What part# or aftermarket parts work, and work well (for example, no plastic impellers)
steering rack - I want to upgrade my million turn steering rack to the z3's 2.7, anybody know off-hand where the cheapest place to by one is? Will the stock e30 one suffice for a core to avoid the ridiculous core charges from online auto parts warehouses?
harness - as I understand it, I am supposed to either buy one from munichmotorsports or splice the m42 one to the m50 one... the m50 harness has a shit ton of connectors on it already, I'm supposed to mate the c101 to the xsomething rather... but where do the other ends plug into?
sensors - besides the tooth trigger sensor, cam position sensor and TPS sensor - what other sensors are there on the m50NV? Any particularly troublesome ones that I should buy/replace?
flywheel - I currently have a flywheel from a 92 325i and a 91 318is, which would be preferable? which starters should I use for it? I understand the M20 would be best, but there's some modification involved?
clutch - what aftermarket clutches are available for these swaps?
