    OBD1 Harness adapter

Any wiring difference between 87 325is chassis and 90 325is chassis besides color?

About to drop in a motor that used to be in FredK's car, was going to go in mbonder's car, but is now going into my 90 325is. Adapter is currently configured for 87 325is, and a search didn't turn anything up directly comparing the two. Was hoping to get the motor running tonight after I head out and drop it in right now... hopefully someone on here is generous enough to enlighten my wiring noob self.

Thanks guys... annnnnd sorry for being selfish and just asking for the answer instead of spending hours looking up etk's to possibly not even come to a concrete answer myself. :embarrassed:

edit: ps, somebody buy my exhaust. Kthx.

ABS is powered via the C101 (pin 20). Look at a diagram for the plug, as it's impossible to tell which hole is 20 by looking at the labels. Add a wire at pin 6 on the X20 side for the A/C idle while you're at it. I don't know if there's an early vs. late difference, but from late '89 forward, there are a few differences.

Yeah, it's a reasonably large difference. Besides powering pin 20 with a switched hot, the tach and speed signal have flying leads right now that need to be hooked up to the C101 rather than the C104 in the glovebox. It is also a likelihood that there is no starter terminal 30h hooked up to C101 pin 15.

If you'd like, I can reconfigure the adapter if you send it back to me.

thats model dependent iirc some of the late 325is had the tack and fuel rate at the c101 vs early 87is at the c104
the e's I think all had them at the c104
looking for a e30m50 swap harness adapter pm me $150 shipped

Thanks a lot, appreciate the offer and I may take you up on it. I'd like to get it running asap, but if that's what it comes down to I don't mind doing that. Can you change it so that I don't have to pull my cluster out of my dash and just keep it plug and play? I'd hate to tinker with my interior any more than i'd have to - not that it is a difficult process.

Actually, I'm going to pm you my number if you don't mind talking for 5 min.
