    S52 intake on M50

A local guy is selling parts from a blown S52B32 '97 M3, he still has the complete intake with throttle bodies.
I'm just wondering if its possible to mount on an M50 with any interesting results, or is it just a really bad idea?
Can the cams from the S52 be used in the M50, if so buy both?

s52's only have one throttle body

Maybe he means the traction control part.

Anyways, don't do this. Totally counter productive. Everyone with an OBD2 car switches to the m50 manifold for a reason. This is like gettign a chip for your car that does less power then stock.

I'm not sure on the cams, depends if you have non vanos or vanos m50.

Ah, yeah true. OBD2 intakes are much more restrictive due to emissions. You want to keep the OBD1.

If you have a vanos m50, grab the cams and trays.

Ah, I have NV M50. And also realized the OBD2s have the smaller intake holes.
Thought the S52 also had the nice TB six-pack like the S50.

No S52 has 6 throttle bodies. Perhaps he is thinking of the S50B32.

Either way, the throttle bodies aren't exactly bolt-on to an M50. The M5x and non-US S50 are completely different motors.

                Aka late model Euro.
I think this should be S52B32. Main difference is that it has Dual Vanos, the S50 being single.
I simply have no idea what would happen if the TBs and intake were mounted to an M50.

There was never, ever an S52 in Europe. It was the S50B32. And nothing translates to your M50.

Well, actually, Alpina used the S52 for a LONG time.

                    My info says otherwise.

BMW Code ... BMW Code ... Size (litres) ... Cyl ... Valves per Cyl ... Power (PS@rpm) Torque (Nm@rpm) ... Manufactured ... Bore x Stroke (mm) ... Timing ... Weight (kg) ... motor management ... camshaft, valve, intake and other control ... Used in

                    S52 - S52B32 ... 3152ccm ... 6 ... 4 ... 321 @ 7400 ... 351 @ 3250 ... 96 -> 2000 ... 86.4x91 ... Chain ... 152 ... Bosch DME ... Bi-VANOS ... E36 M3 (Euro)

These engines are notoriously known for the Dual Vanos going bad at around 90K miles, the engine then has a diesel sound to it.

Your info is wrong. Get a pic of the engine, mate.

The Euro M3 engines are totally different to US engines - there was a thread in this section recently with some great info on that.

I will be investigating how to fit S50B30/32 M3 ITBs to my Euro-spec M52 stroker (alu block from a Euro E36 328i) but it isn't going to be a direct bolt-on. You'll also have brake booster problems (ie: it won't fit)

So the intake ports and bolts have a different pattern eh?
And I have M50B25 euro spec.
