    Clutch Qs

    M50tub with 260

I have been reading TONS of builds but very few tell about the internals of their setup.

I am planning on a turbo in a year, what flywheel and clutch should I get? links would be a great help.

I have the whole 260 clutch, fly and plate. Should I upgrade the clutch disk and flywheel? I just don't know what brands are good and what I would need.

I know I want to get in the STi field with turbo and want my clutch to handle it and my r3vs to bounce. So any help would be much needed.

I also have the tranny that came with the '94 m50tub, is that better than the 260 getrag? I am in the middle of a tune up for the m50 so it's not too late to switch. I just thought SMC > DMC

Why? I heard that the m50 one does not hold up as good.

ive heard they are about the same. but with the ZF you dont have the tilting issue you do with the getrag

use the getrag. just get the sach hd clutch puck maybe a better pressure plate and you'll be fine. zfs suck, and the gears sucks, and the shifts are so sloppy in them, sell the zf to fund the getrag :)

I have a ZF with M5 clutch setup and 8.5 UUC flywheel. Since you're doing turbo, don't think a light flywheel setup is in the best intrest. But the M5 clutch setup is the way to go. Good luck with your project.

sounds like a pretty mixed batch as to G260 or ZF. I was planning to use my 260 aswell, untill i went to the wrecker and felt the amazing shifter feel of the zf320(virgin with only 20k miles). I ended up leaving with the ZF320, ive never regretted it, its a great tranny IMO:)

Thanks Will, I shall do just that. I own a ZF and used a 260 with a Z4 shifter and bushing upgrade. It is pure sex.

yea the getrag is defintily a better tranny imo, unless you were going with the m3 zf tranny, and i would only use it due to its strength.

What generation M5 are we talking? E34 or E39?
