Early MotoMeter tach coding plug

What coding plug are you guys using to get an accurate tach?

I just replaced the whole cluster and the tach is way off, reading to high, it was from a 6 cylinder and the coding stalk reads 03.
If i pull the coding plug out it's still off a little at idle but as the revs increase it reads around 900rpm less. Verified this with an LM-2 and multimeter.

I think Japandrew had a thread on this as kept his early cluster.... I just went with a late model cluster from 325i car instead, and replaced the fuel gauge.

I might have to get the late VDO one and swap over the euro fuel gauge and mpg stuff.
Just not sure if they are interchangeable and still work properly.

The fuel gauge swaps over ok...fuel gauge is the only gauge in the cluster that kind of works on it's own if you look at the cluster schematics...the rest of the stuff is interconnected.
