^Yeah, buying used motors with compression tests/known history/WARRANTY and for much less money.

I have clearly stated to my vendors to make sure we are gonna receive good running motors. Now I am not a salvage yard dealer and cant honestly say that we r gonna get perfect running motors since its used and its coming out of a wrecked m3 or mz3. We will see how it goes, I just like to think positive and hope that everyone including myself gets a good running motor.
I am prepared to spend an extra a few dollars if there any issues with my motor since I am not ignorant to the fact that I am buying a used engine kit...

I hope to see that soon in my car later this summer. My plans include a respray while she is getting the new engine. Once the S52 is pulled, Ill post it in the forums for sale. Its been a great motor (from zionsville) and installed/removed by Terry Sayther Auto in Austin. It now has 68k on it and close to 69k when pulled. EWS etc all included. Just a heads up for a good motor coming to the market later this summer :)
I was thinking $3500 for the motor, trans(zf), ews, dme, wiring. Already for swap. Pick up will be in Austin or shipped at buyers expense-$300 to $400 depending on location. I would estimate mid July to early august for shipment.Last edited by stormspike; 05-21-2010, 12:39 PM.

While I don't offer Karim's group buy idea, I can offer a very high level of support, I've been there and done that for years, having installed several of these and coached many people thorugh it.
At the end of the day, its not Rocket Science, and you can probably get all the info from in this forum on your own.

Oh, btw, if you can get an MZ3 coupe/roadster engine that harness is the same for RHD or LHD and lends itself very well to the E30 transplant since you want nicely finished boots to terminate the splice box if you retain it, and pass the dme through the firewall.
Seals -It (*) is a newish product that would lend itself nicely to revising the firewall, and passing the 88pin connector through for you guys. MZ3 mounting tabs could hang the splice box, and it would look nice....Course, the E30M3 parts that tuck all away are VERY nice looking

Well as I said we are buying used motors and we just gotta hope that we get lucky and have no problems. I am buying a few extra parts on my end just for caution in case if I or anyone else needs any parts. Besides now I have the man power at my shop to rebuild or fix any problems with these motors. Things have changed in my shop in the last month or so and will keep getting better as time goes. Swapping the engine is and was not a problem for me. The only problem i had was with wiring and tuning. Which I have learned and studied every wire of how it works. My GT-1 will be in soon and also a few other gadgets that I have ordered. No just for these motors but for my shop to use..
I am sure whomever is gonna buy these engines with me are gonna be happy like my previous customers and myself with the motor I have in my car...

Not surprising, these wrecks can cause damage to throttle bodies, plenums, oil coolers, ps units, engine mount brackets, timing covers, you name it. Shipping damage is a whole issue by itself, and not just crossing the ocean. These pallets are loaded into ocean going ships and not treated gently by any means. I've even inadvertantly caused shipping damage trying to securely strap a motor for cross country shipping, and had the tension of the straps break something. That is life.
Personally I've found it very useful to have extra motors and piles of spare parts available so that when an engine arrives I can replace damaged items, or if a customer reports damage I missed, I can swap out parts for free with them. I don't sell these to my customers, I give them away to make sure they're happy, or include them ahead of time and they don't even realize I've replaced parts from my supplies before they even see the engine. Maybe your pockets are deeper, and instead of buying "smoked" engines, you'll buy new parts from the dealer to replace what your customer needs, or maybe you have confidence that your breakers have piles of spares, and will be happy to ship them for free to your customers based on your word, and that your customers won't mind the delays.
"Thinking positive" has not worked too well for me, and over the years I've lost track of how many items I've had to swap in or out for customers to make sure that when they open their pallet, they're not going to be delayed a few weeks while I try to haggle with the breaker in europe to send replacement throttle bodies or whatever has been damaged.
The BIGGEST problem I have is that I get calls ALL the time, and Emails ALL the time from people who want to buy items from me because they have broken or missing bits from the engines they got on their own. They don't really understand that while I have these spares, I didn't buy them and invest in them for the purpose of reselling them, they're an investment I've made to support my customers when "we should be fine and think positive" didn't pan out.
Your mileage may vary Karim, but personally, I've found it very helpful to have enough parts to probably build 3 or 4 engines scattered between the warehouse, my garage and my basement. The point of this is not to tease people who need spares and didn't buy from me, but rather to point out the level of committment it takes to get this right. Personally, I would suggest you DO buy a couple of "smoked" engines so you've got spares ready when the inevitable happens.

Do you have to do the EWS delete? Will these kits come with the EWS and key, etc? My S52 has the EWS and Terry Sayther in Austin had no issues getting it all wired up and working. He will be doing this transplant.

its pretty same as the s52 swap with a few minor modifications. I am gonna re do my DS e30 m3 at my shop and will have pics from start to finish. the only thing I wont do is the dme flashing/tuning which i will send out to Mark Dsylva or Oscar Velez in P.R. I will also help out members with info on the tuning as well, wont play middle man on the tuning either. Both mark and oscar do ews delete and sofware tuning on euro dme's...

Ive done some searching and have not seen a list of swap parts needed. I know about the Geo booster and issues with the Cyl 6 header. What other things are needed (I have a S52 in now)? Any special wiring issues or is it close to the S52 wireup? Any issues with A/C? Will my lines from the S52 work with the Euro?
Just wanted to make sure i have the parts when the engine arrives.
