    need fan help, asap.

i need to install a fan in my S52 car. asap...

in the cooler months, it does fine with no engine fan (i do have the aux fan), but with summer fast approaching, and with the car seeing more use, i need more cool.
when there's no traffic, the temp seldom goes above the 1/2 way point, but with the slightest bit of stop n go, it starts climbing into 3/4 and beyond... not where i want to be. i literally had to pull out of traffic the other day and haul ass up the shoulder, to avoid an overheating situation.

im running an E36 radiator, and AC.

that leaves me with literally 2" of clearance, and room for roughly a 16" diameter puller fan.

    im thinking of this one:

I run my stock E30 fan on my S52, and even though its close I have no rubbing or hitting issues.

I drive the car in Phoenix frequently, and I have the stock front aux fan wired to a switch in the cabin. As soon as I hit traffic I flick it on, and I turn it off when I start cruising again. I havent had a single overheating problem yet.

Just as a side note, is your system properly bled, and full of coolant?? Could be the culprit.
    My previous build (currently E30-less)

I run a Mishimoto 16" pusher in front of my condensor and Mishimoto rad. I run a cooler thermo stat and mech fan delete. It was 97 here 2 days ago, drove the car pretty hard all day and in traffic and never touched more than 1/2 on the cluster

How do you have your pusher fan hooked up? I don't want to run a switch inside the car I would rather use the high/low switch on the radi. Also I plan on running the Mishimoto, might you have a part number for the one you used?

Sorry one more question, does the Mishimoto require a reservoir tank?

Sorry didn't mean to thread jack. ;)

I had this same problem yesterday! First time my m52 has gone above 1/2... except I have a little ebay fan and it was doing it's best to keep me around 3/4 in traffic.

Will stay tuned to this thread.

I've been in the same situation, had to pull out of traffic, douse the rad with water, leave the hood popped and haul ass up the shoulder.

I deleted my condensor, got a Z3 temp switch and 1600CFM 16" SPAL fan and wired it up like stock, hasn't let me down.
