differential question

So i gotta e30 diff off ebay a few months back, but the guy didn't have a cover for it, so he didn't know what ratio it was. Being a pretty good deal i decided i'd get it anyway and hope for the best. So, today i got off my lazy and counted the teeth on the ring and on the pinion gear and i got 41 and 14.

sO i did the old 41/14 and got 2.92867

so that's a 2.93.

My question is would this be too low for a m50 swap? seems like it would, but i'd get great gas mileage :giggle:


i'll also trade it for a 3.73 or a 3.25 lsd ..just sayin:p

It depends on the trans you are going to use.

u can make that 2.93 work. it isn't much different than 3.23. just install it and see what you think. make the trade if you don't like it.

Oops forgot about that i'm gonna use the e30 getrag 260.

but yeah i think i'll try it and see how it does.

My M50 w. G250 and 4.10 = 110mph in 5th gear @ 7k rpms -haha
Gas mileage = 1 tank / track day
