    m50 g250 clutch question

    Hi, I'm collecting parts for an m50 swap and I have an array of parts I have sourced with a budget tighter than a frogs ass. I am using an m50 g250 combo and I want to use a m20 clutch and single-mass flywheel. What throw-out bearing and pilot bearing should I use?

    clutch kit

    I am curious as to whether this works myself, because I would love to use my M20 flywheel/clutch setup on the new M50/getrag 250 setup, would save me a lot of money.

    The F1 stage 1 clutch kit for M50 on Ebay is an inexpensive way to go IF your dual mass flywheel is in good enough shape to reuse.

      well I checked realoem and the part numbers for the TOB are the same so i'm guessing we'll be good with the m20 fly and clutch in a g250.

      Does nobody else have experience with this combination?

        I read somewhere else on the forums that an M20 flywheel will work on M50 setup but you have to shave 1/8 inch off flywheel somewhere or else it scrapes on the oilpan?

        Keeping all of the original M20 drivetrain complete so it could all be dropped in another car is one of my goals so not gonna re-use the M20 parts.

        I am going to buy the F1 clutch kit on ebay and make my dual mass flywheel work with the new m50 clutch setup even if I have to resurface that schizz myself with a dang palm sander. I've looked my dualmass flywheel over and it is in quite good shape so not worried about it.

          ewww dual mass haha! The last swap I did was on a Honda and I was amazed when I saw that massive dual mass on my m50 lol.

          I'd really like to hear some other takes on this. Logic tells me that a thinner flywheel wheel require the TOB/clutch fork to have to extend further to disengage the clutch. ???

            Logic from past car projects tells me that to use a thinner flywheel creates problems with gear noise and possibly even engine balance. Also it will shift differently. I would very much like to keep the new M50 drivetrain as close to stock as possible to eliminate any unfortunate surprises. That's just my 2 cents.
