    Proper ECU for m50

    Hello,

I was reading up on this and was wondering what ecu's would work. I know I cannot use the 413 silver label, but can't seem to find anymore than that.

Will an 1992 automatic 325is ECU work or do I need one from a manual?

On an M50TU (Vanos) you MUST use a 413 DME. You could use the silver label if you got a 2.5L chip, but that would be around the same price as a good red label 413 DME.

    A 1992 DME (402/403/405) will not work.

I thought reading the opposite on this exact site. 402/403/405 work.

402/403/405 is a DME for NON-Vanos motor. If your running a 2.5l M50 get a Red label 413. Like Fred said there are other DME's that will work but it's not worth the cost.
