I have a 1989 325i convertible my family bought brand new back in 89. Just finished all of the suspension and steering upgrades. I spoke with a guy at the Carburetor Connection Dyno show and he said than an s5X swap would be the best bet vs going with a stroked FI m20 engine.
So i bought a 1997 M3 that had front end damage, but perfect other than that. It also had the s50 intake manifold swap with the conversion kit from Turnermotorsports in it so that was a HUGE PLUS cause i know i need the OBD1
My question to all of you is, if you are a veteran to the swap process or you just know anything worth knowing when it comes to these swaps i would be greatly appreciative of your advice. I don't want to make a mistake when pulling either engine and have to pay for it later when realized. Im hoping to get an idea for what other parts i need like oil pans, brake boosters, OBDI v OBDII, fab work to the driveline, and so on.
I've been searching through these forums and there is just soo much information its hard to sift through what actually needs to be done vs what doesnt. and what people prefer.
Any help is greatly appreciated. And i will be posting pics of the process in another thread as soon as it gets underway. Thanks!
