    My S50 swap

    Got to start my swap yesterday S50 into 91 318is, Engine, transmission, pwr st lines, radiator and hoses all hooked up.

    I have a few questions,
    1. What shifter to use? I want to have a short shift and the shifter i have now hits the driveshaft.

    2. I have everything wired up as follows but i do not get fuel or spark when cranking, if i jump the fuel pump relay i get fuel. Im thinking that the EWS is causing this.

    C101 to X20
    1 to 25
    4 to 12
    5 to 23
    6 to 22
    7 to 21
    8 to 24
    9 to 20
    11 to 19
    12 to 8
    13 to 13
    14 to 14
    15 to 15
    16 is srs which i dont have
    18 to 18

    Is that right?

        Ok if its the ews causing my no spark and fuel i need a different chip but i am not sure what size my injectors are, They have yellow tops and grey bodies they dont look like bmw injectors to me i could be wrong though does anyone know what size they are or have you seen these before?

        My motor came with a 3.5" maf it has a AA chip which the Po didnt even know about and i was told that the injectors are bigger but he didnt really know much about anything.

          You don't make it easy to help you because you've left out the most critical information:

          What ECU are you using? If it's a 413 silver, get an EWS chip, or a 413 Red.

          What transmission? E30 transmission needs E30 shifter, E36 transmission needs E36 shifter.

            413 silver ecu what chip should I use I know trm makes one and there is a forum member that makes them as well, I just don't know what size of injectors I have.

            I'm using the trans from the e36 m3. So can I get a short shift kit for a e36 m3 then?

              Have you done an ohm check on your CPS?

              Ill help incase its not an EWS thing.

                I pulled the motor myself out of the m3 and it was running so all that stuff is ok.

                  Another question with my cluster being from the m42 do i just need to change the codeing plug to get the tach to read properly or do i need to get a whole cluster from a 6cyl?

                  And if its just the codeing plug can i use one from any 6 including eta?

                    No, the cluster will be fine.

                    I run a 98 S52 in my 91 318 with no problems.

                      Really that's weired I ask because my buddy put a boosted M30 into his E30 M3 and had to change the cluster because the tach was all wacky.

                      But if it's going to be ok that less moneys I have to spend thanks for the response.
