wiring diagram...cannot find? info e34 to e30 please

    Hi.

Tomorrow morning i am going to attempt to do the wiring.

I have an e34 automatic vanos harness. My car is manual.

My plan is to mate the c101 (from m20) to the M50 x20 spot on the harness. Basically, to make it plug n play.

I have been having trouble finding information on wiring an automatic harness as i heard it requires ripping out the automatic portions on of it.

anyone have information on the plans i stated above?

my e30 is 1990, and the automatic vanos harness comes from 1993 e34.

    thanks

This is what i have come up with so far which is by no means confirmed correct. I will then remove all other e34 harness wires not necessary is. Not to but in but thought that maybe this would help. 91 325i to 94 525i

I wouldn't go solely off of charts made by other people. It is best to go through the ETM for both cars and make pinout charts of your own, write down a comprehensive chart with the wire color (sometimes it isn't what the ETM says it should be) and what else the wire connects to as well i.e. the DME connector (x6000 iirc),relay terminal etc.
Knowing what the other end of the wires connects to and what else is fed off of the same wire you can double check your work by doing a continuity test with a DMM.

Doing this yourself familiarizes you with the wiring and in the long run will give you the knowledge to troubleshoot any problems you may have.

This is the most common link to the free ETM for all BMW's:

You just start at the Power distribution section and read through every diagram an write down each instance of the x20 or c101 and the pertinant info along with it.

This is an invaluable thread for the c101 engine side connector pin p/ns which you will need if you are planning on wiring the plug directly onto the harness with no adapter (which is what I did and it works perfect):

I personally used an e36 auto harness and chopped most of the extra wires for the auto xmsn plug out.

I have heard that the e34 harness is a bit shorter and it can be hard to get the DME connector to hook up to the DME mounted in the glovebox since the e34 DME was mounted in the engine bay where the e30 battery tray is.

It took me around four hours to go through the ETMs for both cars, mind you I re-read them several times.

The e34 harness hooks up the same as the e36 just the wire colors aren't the same. Pin to pin tho is identical.
