Hey guys, I've completed about a month ago an Obd1 S52 auto swap in a 1989 automatic 325i e30.
I've been busy with other stuff so never got around to finishing up the exhaust system to take it out for a test drive. But with the exhaust finished, the car isn't driving as it should.
Completed setup:
Obd1 converted s52
1994 325i Auto Harness, ECU + Auto DME
1995 325i 4speed Transmission + Auto DME
Auto transmission Triple checked for proper amount of ATF Fluid
I've wired up correctly including the auto stuff.
Symptoms/References:
- When in drive, 3, 2, 1 the car feels like it is literally taking off from a dead stop in 4th gear at full throttle or half.
- Even when manually put into 1st the car still feels as though it is in a higher gear (4th or 3rd) at full throttle or half
- When put into reverse there is full power (easily looses traction at 1/4 throttle).
- When the car is in reverse the car, with no throttle applied, moves on its own
- When the car is in Drive, the car will not move, even when applying some throttle, it takes around 2k - 2.5k rpms to get the car rolling forward.
My hunch is that the transmission valve unit within the transmission itself is messed up.
I've tried two Auto ECU's and even drove the car with the Auto DME unplugged and still experienced the same symptoms. I checked the Auto DME plug for power and ground and continuity to various plugs and all were intact.
The easier alternative is to of course, get another transmission, but the one that my customer bought was supposedly rebuilt. Apparently not and if so, rebuilt incorrectly.
Any suggestions would be great.
