That's an unsprung clutch for use with a dual mass flywheel. The flywheel/clutch/pp//starter must all match, so if you are using an e30 clutch which apparently you are then you need the rest of the e30 stuff to go along with it.

You can run the unsprung clutch with a single mass flywheel the only negative effect would be some possible clutch chatter. In fact when I pulled apart my m20 and g260 I discovered a single mass flywheel and unsprung clutch. I couldn't tell the difference.

Remember that you need a g260 pilot bearing too.

Are you re-using your clutch or something?

You could have found this all very easily using the search button.

I just have that clutch laying around. I searched but couldn't find anything.. I am really searching for all possible combinations, I don't really HAVE to use that clutch if there are better (and not too expensive) options... I can't seem to find a thread on it.

Can I use e36 clutch and flywheel? If so, what model years?

      Thanks already for your help!

            M20 clutch kit + M20 starter + lightened M20 flywheel

It's proven, it works great, etc etc etc.

This is precisely what I did on my S52 swap with the exception that I had a custom built clutch, but still M20 disc/pp

+1... I am using a m50 unsprung clutch plate with m20 pressure plate on m20 flywheel with m20 starter of course... Only one thing is different... When you pull your leg from clutch pedal fast, reaction is faster than with sprung plate and your wheels will easier start to lose traction after fast clutch release...

I've never heard of anyone using unmatched clutches and pressure plates before other than on the 6 speed trannies. So you're saying that you are running an m50 clutch disc and an m20 pp right now in a car and it works?

That's right... M50B25TU with 2.8 crank+rods, ZF tranny from E34, M20B25 shaved flywheel, m20 PP, M50 unsprung clutch disc, m50 throwout bearing and M20 starter... Car now has about 5k miles, about 15 drag launches and it's all fine... It grabs hard, and it's fully streetable...

Just use a local company that does all the relinings for big rig brakes/clutches etc.

regarding the M20 clutch on 24v swaps, are people still shaving the back of the flywheel to clear the oil pan? if so by how much?..... or is it more common to grind the part of the oil pan

My singlemass is off to the machine shop to get resurfaced, just wanted to know what else to do while it's there.

Have them shave the back, they should be able to lighten it to around 12lbs.
