    auto trans computer

    I have an 1986 325es with automatic transmission.And will be installing a m50 with standard transmission.......what ahppens to the automatics computer that is under the drivers side kick panel.Should it be removed? or does it preform other funtions?

    Is this by the driver side speaker, above the driveshaft/transmission tunnel, or under the steering column?

      if you are talking about the one in your 86 then it is the abs computer.....leave it there

          That is NOT the TCU (Transmission Control Unit). E30s came with no TCU's for auto transmission.
