    Cooling System Pictures (e30 M3 / S52 swap)

I have a 91' M3 with a 99' E36 M3 6 cylinder. I am just starting to configure the cooling system. I have the E36 M3 radiator and reservoir, I also have the map of the hose install...

(But) Does anyone have a link to someone's install of the same job when they did their conversion?

That would be a tremendous help as I am not the best wrench.

Also, if anyone can recommend the best brackets for the radiator mounting along with the electric fan raves / rants since I live at 6500 feet....Amazing help!

Either way- thanks for all of your posts.

SPAL's at Bimmerworld are only $79 right now. Massive is making brackets for these as well now.

As far as the lines that should be pretty easy. Just look at Realoem and you can figure it all out.

Spider hose goes to the TOP line on the heater core
Back of the head goes to the BOTTOM of the heater core
Are you running the coolant lines to the Throttle Body?
If so, one comes from the middle of the head (smaller line)
and the other comes from the spider hose (another smaller line)
otherwise you need to cap them off. (how did you handle the temp sesor issue?)
The last line on the spider hose will connect to the coolant reservoir
Coolant reservoir will have three lines:
1 big one at the bottom that goes to the spider hose
    2 overflow
3 lead back to the radiator
Only ones left are the radiator hoses and those are easy to figure out

Sam I Am: Thanks for your time. That's awesome . Temp Sensor I used that inline piece Turner sells. I bought all sorts of reservoir mounts from Bimmer but don't know if I use them or make my own mounting setup for the reservoir. You putting your reservoir on the drivers side front of the engine bay?
Also, are you going with the Spal 16"?
What are the benefits of running the cooling lines to the throttle body? I will if that is recommended.

      Thanks again-

      John

The throttle body can ice up if it is not heated.

          Maybe in DC

Then again, how are all those carb'd motor's and other non-heated tb's running? Extra something off your block heater?

It has much more to do with humidity and dewpoint than it does actual outside temperature. Granted it's not likely to happen in triple digit temps. Take a look at a stationary motor under partial load on a cool, foggy morning. Sometimes there's enough ice buildup after the throttle to chip it off into your hands.

The throttlebody heater circuit is only on for a short period at warm up anyway. There is a thermostat in the heater lines.

Anyway my s52 came with them deleted already and for simplicity's sake I kept it that way. I live in Canada so we'll have to see what it's going to be like in the winter I guess.
