How to Remove E36 Oil Pick-up Mount

Is there a way to remove this mount without unbolting it? Can you use wire cutters or something similar, because I know you can't use a cutting wheel?

    Can I reuse this?

Also, which oil pan gasket do I use? The E34 one looks like it doesn't fit.

Bend it back and forth til it brakes or cover everything up and cut it with something. I made the mistake of removing the bolts and had to buy new ones.

Use the baffle in the pan and the gasket for the m50.

The baffle in the E36 pan or the E34 pan?

I've got an E34 gasket and it looks like the holes don't line up. Do I need a gasket for an E36?

e36 gasket. They should line up though. I mean the bolts are going to go through the pan into the block, so either one should line up.

Does your e34 pan have a built in baffle? If so, use that.

There shoule be a windage tray in the shorter part as well. If not then someone else will need to chime in. You probably will use the one that you took off if thats the case.

Here's the E34 oil pan that I've got:

Do I have to use the windage tray in the original post?

oh ok, i just thought it would hit the oil pan but seems like it clears it. I also has the first accident on the swap today, split my damn finger open about inch and a half on an exhaust pipe, packed it with antibiotic and called it a night lol.

It's funny I wrench all day at work and never hurt myself, but for some reason as soon as I'm at home in my garage working on my car I manage to bash my knuckles and split myself open in no time.

as far as the oil pickup tube mount is concerned, i was told you don't have to worry about replacing the main cap bolts if you unscrew them. the connecting rod bolts are another story. if you do loosen the main cap bolts, i would loosen all of them and use a trusted torque wrench to make sure they are all secured equally and in the correct pattern. also, this would be a great opportunity to remove the bearing caps one at a time to see what condition your bearing inserts are in. if they are showing copper, replace them, the connecting rod bearings, and the connecting rod bolts. trust me, if you don't do this now, you are going to be driving down the road as long as you own your car wondering what condition they are in and wishing you would have taken this advice above while you have the golden opportunity. i think the saying is "penny wise and pound foolish."

my e34 oil pan had a steel windage tray riveted to the oil pan. in my case, both trays together caused an interference issue. i was told that the best option was to remove the tray from the pan and use the one you have pictured above. i don't see that pan mounted tray in your photos. i suppose it was either removed already or did not come with that pan.

the oil pan gasket should be interchangeable for e34 and e36. i think if you check real oem, you will find the part numbers are the same. the bolt holes have to be identical. that engine block was used in both models. hope i have answered all of your questions.

Not sure on replacing them, just going off this:

11-1 in the notes says to replace.

We're mistaking the windage tray and oil pan baffle here i think. I'm not talking about the baffle in the oilpan, the pic i posted with me holding that piece of metal came off my engine's block, it's bolted to the block below the crankshaft. that piece i think will hit the oil pan. I won't mess with the oil pan baffle.

Also, i won't mess with the bearing, mainly because i'm lazy. I plan on building an s52 for it anyway eventually, so if this thing blows up, i could care less lol.

Put the windage tray that you removed back on the block and bolt up your oil pan with whatever gasket. Both oil pan gaskets have the same dimensions.
