    S50 oil pressure

JUST got done with my S50 swap, and the damn thing cranked right up,runs great...chaseing an oil leak, and have to order software,as I have 21.5 injectors and this red label is from a M50

I have an mechanical oil pressure gauge strapped to the manifold,so I can see it from inside (hood off)....Ive noticed the oil pressure is around 20-25psi at idle, but 70+psi at higher rpm's..IS this normal??? I cant remember what the M50 was!

I am running 10-30w right now as break-in(head rebuilt)bottom end wasnt touched...plan on going with heavier weight oil this week

so, is 70-72 psi normal on an S50??

general rule of thumb is 10psi/1000 rpms. Idle of 20-25 psi is normal.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I see 60 pretty regularly, a little more is no big deal.

It can also depend on the gauge and where you have it tapped.

Yup the S50 with thin oil will make the factory light flicker at idle sometimes I checked mine and it was 22 at idle. The light comes onat anything uner about 22.

I think it's the oil. Either the weight or the fact that it's new, that's raising the pressure.
