Is it a original vanos harness? and if your e30 is manual you'll need to convert it to a manual harness

I have heard this a lot but also read from people that they didn't have the extra connectors for the auto. I pulled the auto tranny off my m50 and it didn't have any extra connectors or wires. My guess is that it will depend on which car is the donor and which auto was in it

I used an auto 525 harness. I had no problems.

Your ECU would fit where it is supposed to if you had an e36 harness. Otherwise it's fine.

Honestly i didn't even cut out the auto parts of the harness. I'm running an e36 harness and like matt said, the ecu fits just like the old one.

The automatic portions of the harness are optional if you're using a manual transmission. If you cut them off make sure you seal the ends up with tape and heat shrink... but I'd just leave them on unless you're anal about cleanliness and weight.

I know that my e30 had a neutral start switch I had to jump when I swapped my 5spd, but I'm not sure if thats the case with an e34/e36 harness, or if you would even have that portion of the harness from the car.

On the e34, the transmission harness is not apart of the engine harness. Its two separate harnesses. So you wouldn't have to remove anything.

Any creative solutions to fixing this problem? I hate non-OEM fitment of anything!!!!

I used the 318 ecu bracket turned sideways and two of the four screws fit. Once I get time I'm going to weld two small strips of metal to reach the other two screws. Two holds it fine though...

I think it was an e30
