    Riddle me this S50 batman

    OK
installed My S50 in my 88 325is last weekend, and started right out of the box..couldnt be happier :) :) :) I could start, idle and drive(no far)because the red label 413 was from a M50..so happy as i was I ordered an aftermarket chip for an S50 21.5lb injectors ltw fly...couple days later I received such chip...installed and NO START!! ok so I went back to the M50 chip...still NO START!! WTF.

Started looking fuel or spark..got the starting fluid sprayed some on the air filter cone , hit the key,and it will try to start,so sounds like fuel....checked fuses/relays OK..removed fuel line to fuel rail, hit the key and shot up like ol' faithful..will check tomorrow with fuel gauge, but seems to be getting fuel.sprayed starting fluid in boot and BAM tries to start.

    ANY ideas??,because ,Iam stumped!!!!

Fuse is ok. Not sure which one is the relay BUT crap load of fuel at fuel rail this thing started would idle all day long last weekend

yes I'm leaning towards ecu. May have craped out. That's the only thing I touched

You installed the chip wrong, you can put in in both ways.
Just flip it around, it shouldn't be fried.

In my internet journeys, I have found that some people had this problem even though they installed the "dot" on the new chip the right way. Same thing happened to me. I was like oh fuck, dme died. Flipped the chip, all is fine.

Also check that all the "legs" are nice and straight and in pisition. They're so easy to bend that if you pushed the chip in with a bent leg, you might not even notice it. Be careful because I think two or three bends and the leg is gone.

I thought that but I was 100% positive as I marked it before I removed it The small notch is the same on both. So if that was true. Why doesn't it start with orginal chip back in I am positve it was correct but I will try reversing it in the mourning

That's why I asked if you have a check engine light... if the chip is wrong, you will not have it when you key on.

Very strange issue. Maybe the fuel injectors are not getting power for some reason? There are a number of different ground and 12v wires that feed the ECU to power various things. Maybe one has come loose?

Ok. I think I found the problem after closer look under the chip I see a broken solder line. I must have did it with a small screwdriver. Damn it.

In need of a red label 413. I have a 402 and silver label 413 for trade
