    m50 plus s50 cams

Hey guys just putting together my m50 and have read of upgrading to the m3 cams will give a significant power increase. I know you need a custom chip but is there anything else it would require and would a set be worth $325? Thanks 4 ne input

Just the chip and trays, and that price is about average depending on condition. S5x cams run anywhere from 250-350.

You don't need to swap trays to put S50 cams into an M50TU.

You do need to swap trays to put S52 cams into an M50TU.

Is there a performance advantage to using the s52 cams over the s50 cams or are the profiles the same?

I ran S52 cams, pink top injectors, 3.5 maf and a TMS chip in my old M50 swapped e30.
              That thing was a blast.

Some say the S50 cams are "hotter", but I'm sure they're the same.

What's involved in swapping the cam trays from a vanos motor to a non vanos motor? Is this something that needs to be done by a machine shop?

They just come out when the cams are unbolted, no machine shop needed.

                      Thanks. Makes sense.

umm you cant run vanos cams on a non-vanos motor unless you convert the whole system on to the motor....dme, harness, vanos unit, oil filter housing, valve cover + more ....ect

May want to consider pink top injectors when doing this and obviously the Turner chip. Also make sure your VANOS is in good shape, as you have to take it out anyways. I am doing this right now in my E34. You can also rent the tools from Dr. VANOS.

When I put in my s50 cams I also did pink top (21.5lbs) injectors and 540i MAF (3.5") with chip.
