What's all this OBDII BS talk all about? People actually keep the OBDII functionality in the E30? That's pretty retarded.

S52 as you'll find lower mileage engines EASIER, plus more displacement is ALWAYS better. Converting to OBD1 is not very complicated, seriously this is pretty easy stuff.
I did this on the m52 to obd1 and it was all pretty damn straight forward, nothing hard about it.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

i'll tell you why, because if you get all the electronics that came with the car, its cheaper by a good amount. Besides, all the gains you get out of an obd1 swap really is the intake manifold WHICH you can still do and keep the OBD2 setup (my car for example)
lets not talk about tuning to keep cheap in mind. As of now, obd1 reigns tuning. Hell i'm still running obd2 after 2.5yrs. We also get the added security of a chip'd key. I'm just waiting on TRM to do some OBD2 voodoo. Not to seem like an obd2 advocate die hard apple-type supporter, i do see the huge benefits in obd1.No more e30s for me.
