Does anybody have pics of e34 vs. e36 motor mount arms

Last night we went to drop my m50 into my 318is and we got the engine in and driver's side mount bolted but the passenger side would not line up. So we went to jack it up to push the engine over and the driver's side came loose and after that neither one of them would line up. We're like an inch off ( meaning arms are facing away from the motor mount stud towars the radiator).

I'm using e28 535i mounts the "green" ones, and it's got me puzzled. We're soo damn close but it just wouldn't bolt, so we packed it up for the night at 1:30 a.m. We flipped the mounts in all kinds of crazy directions and everything and the stupid thing just won't line up. I was told that the engine is out of a e36 325i, but i wanna make sure arms are e36.

Is there a certain directions these mounts go on? I know i've that one some swaps you have to put them in the oval shaped holes.

There are two positions on the block where the mounting arms can bolt up. You can't get them wrong on the drivers side if using e36 arms, but i believe the passenger side has the same 'square' as the e34 mounting arm.

Do the mounting arms look like they form a straight line across if you look at the motor from the top?

Alright, so i definently have e36 arms, so wtf went wrong? Y wouldn't align?

Personally i found that because of the motors orientation, it was easier to get the passenger side mounted first, then as you lower the motor you can align the drivers side.

The longer stud goes through the mount. Make sure you are installing the stud through the outer elongated hole on the subframe and the dowel will go through in the inner hole.

I'm pretty sure we had it like that at some point, but i can't remember. See the motor won't go back far enough for the hole to line up with the stud. Maybe it's the cherry picker? i'm gonna look at it tonight with a clearer mind.

Oh and is the spacer necessary with the custom trans brace?
