Sorry to bring back this tread. But after putting up with the whinning noise, I decided to get a rebuilt one from advance auto. Installed it yesterday and for a while there was no noise,so I thought I got this, but today the noise is back and as loud as the other two pumps. It only whines after it's warm and I turn the steering Again sounds like a bad pump!! WTF. SOTS. Any ideas. Btw fresh ATF fluid and still have the same leak

Lol, mine whines a little too. I've noticed it getting quieter though, I think mine may be because the pump wasn't used for a while. There's only so much going on with a P/S system. Could it be the rack?

It's the same rack and pump that was in my m50 318. I just unbolted complete front subframe and rack and moved to my 325 w/S50

I was thinking maybe it just faded from heat and it was slipping.

Funny you should mention the belt. If you go to autozone or advance they have two different length belts. 51.3 and 51.5. I have the 51.5. Pelican parts shows only the 51.3. I just bought a new tonight. See how it goes. I know it's only 1/4 in shorter but I've seen stranger things

Well yea. I have put on the smaller belt and cross my fingers, it's been great. I didn't want to jinks it but the new smaller belt must have done it Make sure you get the 51.3 belt. Advance auto shows both. Good luck
