    Where Do These Wires Connect?

I'm wondering where these three wires connect. I know the long red one connects to the starter, but what about the smaller red one and the black one? The two red wires are from the E36 M50 harness, and the black wire is connected to the E30 firewall.

    Thanks!

The one thats coming from the firewall goes to the passengers side. The other goes to the alternator. The other goes to the starter. The black one should be attatched to the other big red one

Alright, thanks. There's also a cable under the intake manifold, right by the starter, do you know where that connects?

Alright, he posted this for me, after looking at me dad's e36. The skinny red wire in the first pic goes to the fuse box, so that one is ignored i think.

The big red one goes to starter.

None of them go to the alternator, the alt. has a separate red wire.

Now the black one is connected to a battery terminal looking thing on the e30 firewall, that's the one that's confusing me?

I'm using the m20 starter, i got the small black one and the bigger black one wire connected to it.

I can't have 3 big ones on the starter, can i?

The e36 harness has 3 big red wires. One for starter, alternator and battery terminal. If you use the fusebox wire you don't need the wire coming from the e36 harness. Just the two for the alternator and starter.

The alternator already has a wire in the little boot, that goes over the connections.

Alternator has two wires, starter has three

There are 2 wires at the alternator.

Starter has 2 wires connected to it now, 1 small black one, and one a bit bigger than that also black. 8 and 10mm nuts.

There's also a red one under the intake mani right next to starter which is the one in the 2nd pic.

On top of all that there are those 3 wires in the first pic.

You can ditch the e30 side if you want and just use the e36 power wire for Starter/Alternator.

Do not connect the black e30 wire to the shock tower.

                            From left to right

                            Red - Starter terminal 30
Black - Cut off at battery clamp
                            Red - Alternator
