    EWS problem on an M43

I know most of you are stateside so you don't see that engine. I don't know the answer, so I'm posting this as a favor for somebody who is trying to get an M43 running. The car is in Romania. Here is his description of the issue:

E30 m43 1996 1.8l swap I have a big problem I dont have the EWSII module or the key and cant find a way to bypass the EWS protection need help, tried the motronic 1.7.2 DME with no EWS the engine starts but dose not run proper, my engine is motronic 1.7.3. and the engine DME cuts Spark and Injectors

    engine original DME 1.7.3 Bosch 0 261 203 661
    No-EWS DME 1.7.2 Bosch 0 261 203 276

I even tried swaping the chips from DME to DME

If somebody knows how to bypass the EWS on this particular combination of engine and dme, please post. I know you guys play with EWS from time to time.

The M43 is the updated M40. In my opinion the M40 is the worst BMW engine of all time. In my opinion I would not use a M43. If anything I would use a M42 or a M44 if you want the updgraded DOHC. Im not sure if the M44 has EWS.
When I get a car with a M40 I always swap it out with a M30 or M50, They are much easier to get running good in our cars. Just my 2cents
