IMPOSSIBLE M50 Oil pan removal. (Searched, high and low))

I have to replace the oil pan gasket on my M50, Engine is removed from the car. All bolts are removed, I even took the transmission off just to be sure.

The whole pan moves but seems to be suck at the right rear corner, I've pulled, wiggled, pried on it from both sides, tried moving it forward even with a hammer.

I've put front bolts back in and tried pulling the back down, this thing WILL NOT come off.

It's not like I'm retarded, I'm a 2nd year apprentice and this is not my first BBQ but it's come down to this. I need to get this thing off to finish off my swap.

    Please help!

I know you said you took the trans off, but make sure you got the two bolts hidden by the trans.

There are 4 bolts that are on the back where the transmission hides it. If you are running the G260, they are completely covered by the trans. If you're running a G250 or a ZF there should be holes to let you get the bolts out. So there's the 3-4 normal 10 MM bolts on the front then the ones on the sides and then there's the 10MM long bolts on the rear near the flywheel.

Yes, I do understand the trans is off, I am using it as a reference where they are just incase you missed them.

Can you see what the pan is hanging up on?

I helped change an oil pan on an M30 E34 and the pan kept getting caught on one of the rods. A simple turn of the crank and the piston moved up enough to get the pan out. Not sure if this is the case or not, but thought I'd share a little insight from my experience.

Did you drop the subframe? I had to unbolt the sway, unbolt one of the lollipops, and raise the engine using an engine support to just get the oil pan to clear the oil pup thingy. Also check the 4 bolts behind the flywheel as Don said. There should be 25 bolts total. I know this because I just did the job today.

Got the pan off thanks to everyone's help.

I don't want to tell you what was holding it in there because I have to keep a little bit of my dignity.

Lol, anyway. Got it off and discovered that I was sent the wrong gasket.

Cork and waaaay too small. Probably for an M20 instead of M50.
