E46 M3 engine/trans Swap?

Actually, thanks to hoveringuy's research & product development, it really isn't any more than any other OBD1 conversion. Just his (cheap IMO) dual VANOS controller + a M44 VR sensor and BAM! you've got it.

ive seen an s54 but into an e36, which harbors the s52. so if the s52 can fit into the e30 then the s54 can. So i would say yes it can be done.

Whats the electrical problem with this swap? Just turning everything to OBD1?

Regarding electronics for the s54, there a few aftermarket ECUs that people are running...they cost $$$$$$$ and require tuning; or the stock ECU (DME) can be reprogrammed to work in an e30. The reprogramming allows the s54 to work without DSC and EWS imputs (among other things). Check out what the guys on s14.net are doing for more info.

If you run s50 injectors you can use a stock s50 chip. TRM can also create a m54 specific tune
- they did for his car.
