    e39 m52 swap alternator question

Hey fellas, I'm nearly ready to get my swap started and I have run into a small problem.

My engine is from an e39 and I've completely converted it to OBD1 with new sensors, harness, dme etc, but at the alternator I only have the large positive connection to make. There is no space for the other wire.

According to the bentley its blue and connects to the x20 plug eventually for the charge indicator.

Any ideas where to connect this?

I have spent HOURS combing the bentleys, ETMS and the interwebs for a solution to this 1 wire. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

I guess my question is, since the ETM shows it on the D+ terminal, is where/how do I find the D+ terminal on this e39 alternator? its the 120amp bosch... and yes i've looked at the wiring diagrams for the e39, i think my brain is fried.

There is a connector on the e39 alternator instead of a lug for the D+. You will need the plug which connects to it.

Thanks Adrian, I just figured it out. Here's what's up (for future reference...)

          The plug has 3 pins.

          Pin1 - terminal 15 (fused)
          Pin2 - D+
          Pin3 - not used

It appears only Pin2 need be connected at all as the terminal 15 connection is where the unloader relay gets activated on the e39, since that is taken care elsewhere, it is not necessary in my application.

I have the plug from the alternator and am making a connection for it.
