Looking at an M50 tonight - someone check my parts list?

    This is what I figure I need for an M50B25 swap into my 1986 325(e) w/ M20B27:

M50B25 w/ what accessories? I know I need all of them but any way I could get a list?
Wiring Harness (hopefully its a 413 DME)
    ECU
M50 Flywheel OR M20 lightened on Engine side?
    Clutch?

I know I should have searched but it's a great deal and I don't have much time. I'd only be doing the swap in the summer so I'll have ample time to research, I just need this quickly.

And I know about the other parts I'll need too, but these are specific E36-325i/is parts.

    Thanks!

    edit:
    M50B25
    ECU
    Engine Harness
    Power Steering Pump
    Throttle Body
    Injectors
    Fuel Rail
    Rad Hoses?
    Engine arms

    edit2:
It's an automatic. Any conversion needed?

Turns out the guys got all accessories w/motor for $300ish... tempting.

300 is a good deal with all the accessories.

There is tons of info available on this swap. But from a quick look at your list you didn't mention what car the engine will come from. If its from a e34, you will need a e36 harness and engine mount arms for a easier bolt in.

If its from a e36 you will need the oil pan/pickup/dipstick from a e34, The red label 413 only came in a e34 tho, so youll need that too or a ews delete chip from a tuner.

So I'm going to check everything out next weekend. He's got all the parts needed, it's from an E36.

The only thing that's hanging me up now is the driveshaft. His is an automatic so it obviously won't work, but I'll search for that.

Then theres also the rad mounts

if your e30 is a manual just use that tranny with the stock driveshaft, bolts right onto the m50 with m50 clutch/flywheel and starter, you just have to clearance the oil pan or the flywheel. You really need to start reading up on this. You can use the stock m20 radiator with e36 hoses and it bolts right up.

heres the oil pan you will need.

Actually, if it's from an e34, you can use the wiring harness. The e34 harness is like the e36 harness but a little shorter. I've heard that a couple of guys were able to stretch it to fit the dme in the glovebox. Also, I believe some e36 (earlier models) did in fact come with a red label 413 dme. But if you need one, shoot me a pm and I'll sell you my extra one.

I'm honestly not sure if I'm even going to do the swap. I'm going to check the stuff out next weekend and decide then. If I do get the engine, I'd only be swapping it in sometime in June/July so I'd get all of my research done before then. Thanks for your help though.

              Okay, thanks.

I'll post again next weekend to let you know if I got it. From there it'll be research time.

My quick parts list; this is providing that I get pretty much everything from the E36...
                E28 Engine Mounts
                Trans Brace
                Wiring adapter
                E34 Oil Pan/Dipstick/etc
                E34 Throttle Cable
                SS Headers
                LSD
413 DME Wiring Harness (red label)
                Cluster
And I'd be relocating the brake booster over to the right.
                Using stock driveshaft
                Twist linkage

Seems like that's it? Now I'd expect I might need some new hoses here and there, new serpentine belt, potentially a new clutch, but any other big additions?

                    Looks pretty good.
Be prepared for wiring everything up or get an Adapter from Gregslow318i.

Beyond that, you'll need some misc. hoses and belts as you said. Definately replace the clutch. It's a "while I'm here" moment you'll regret otherwise.
                    Need a part? PM me.

                      Thanks.

I really need to decide whether I want this or not... its not currently in a car so I will not be able to tell if it runs. I would be able to get everything for super cheap though, because he needs it out of there and I'm the only one interested.
