    e30 m50nv with e36 rack...foaming!!!

what am i doing wrong? hoses look tight but can get the pump to sound good. when swap was done, I filled the ps reservoir and it sounded fine. then took exhaust in to be done(they barely even drove it) then back home via the traiiler.

That's when i noticed the loud annoying buzzing sound from the power steering. when i took the cap off, it was foaming REALLY bad and spilled out. I figured i just needed to see how it went.

let me know if you have ideas.

raised the front in the air, and turned steering wheel side to side about 50 times. noticed some bubbles coming up in the reservoir. while in the air, everything sounds fine and quiet. when i drop the car to the ground and the pump really has to work, it makes a bunch of noise again and foams up the PS fluid in the reservoir.

    bad pump???

is the restrictor in the return line? Your pump could also be dying...

I also second your pump may be dying... Mine died when I did the swap.

im not sure about the restrictor in the return line...i cut up the m20 hose and used that as a return line i think.

i there a spot on the hose that indicates the restrictor?

shit im pretty sure i dont have a restrictor line.

otherwise, if that isnt the issue, my pump is shot.
